I am running VMWare Workstation 5 under W2K3 Enterprise.
The guest machines seems to have problem with TCP/IP...
I captured the packets and it showed a problem with the TCP/IP
handshake....
In the guest OS, I launched IE and http://www.somewebsite.com.
The capture packets showed the following 3-way hand-shake:
MySource Webserver SYN Seq=0 Ack=0 Win=64240 Len=0 MSS=1460 (normal enough)
Webserver MySource SYN/ACK Seq=0 Ack=1 Win=16384 Len=0 MSS=1452 (normal
enough)
Instead of
MySource Webserver ACK Seq=someNumber Ack=1 Win=someNumber Len=0
I get a reset
MySource Webserver RST Seq=1 Ack=someNumber Win=0 Len=0
The VM Guest NIC is bridged -
I have no problem getting to the web on the host OS.... Sometimes the guest
OS can get to the web,
but more often than not it gets the TCP RST..... I tested the problem with
W2K server and W2K3
Enterprise Server. Guests have 2 NICs, but I disconnected and disabled one
of them....
No problem with Ping nor DNS resolution.....
No problem with the host OS and web browser...
Anyone else experiencing this problem of guest getting to the Internet using
bridged network.
TIA
