I am getting REALLY ticked off with VMWare and snapshots. OK, I have a W2K
guest (running under W2K); this guest has a snapshot. I revert to the
snapshot, then use Windows Update under the guest W2K to update my VM with
the latest updates. Now I want to replace the current snapshot with this new
one. I select Snapshot; it tells me that a current one exists and would I
like to replace it. I say yes; it cranks for awhile then I get the error
'Failed to commit changes from the redo log ... The parent virtual disk has
been modifed since the child was created. An error occured while combining
the previous snapshot...' followed by an empty dialog box with just the word
'Fail' in it. OK, so I say to myself, 'Self, go ahead and delete the
snapshot then we can save the new one'. No such thing, I try this (via
Snapshot... Remove snapshot menu item) and I then get the EXACT same error
message!
So it seems I cannot (1) Replace my snapshot, nor (2) Get rid of it.
So is there any way to fix this stupid thing? BTW, I am using VMWare 4.5.2
build-8848.
