Hi
The soluition has been documented at VMware's site for some time.
http://www.vmware.com/support/kb/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=lk1JWNyh&p_lva=&p_faqid=853&p_created=1033077310&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTQ4JnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9c291bmQgdm9sdW1lJnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9NyZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMT1_YW55fiZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMj1_YW55fiZwX2NhdF9sdmwxPX5hbnl_JnBfY2F0X2x2bDI9fmFueX4mcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=
Briefly,
VMware Workstation 4.x and later, and GSX Server 3.x and later, enter:
pciSound.enableVolumeControl = FALSE
VMware Workstation 3.x and earlier, and GSX Server 2.5.x and earlier, enter:
sound.disableMasterVolume = TRUE
Hope this helps.
By the way I would seriously look at usiong the VMware Community forums as
most questions now get answered there.
Regards
Dave
Post by Phillip PiPost by JuhaVmware guest seems to reset the system volume setting regardless if the
host has audio muted or not.
If hard to fix, would it be possible to have a "Start muted" option
available next to the audio card.
This can become a problem when the user thinks he has the system muted
but then booting
up a guest turns on the audio and can generate all kinds of silly
situations.
Good idea. I just remove the sound card from guest images since it gets
annoying.
